ICCD Messenger Project
For ICCD 2009, it is CCF's pleasure to invite the public to be part of our action group to reach out to your community and help raise awareness!

This February, more than 30 "ICCD Messengers" will help to maildrop more than 10,000 public education brochures to demystify childhood cancer in their neighbourhood.

How does this help CCF and our beneficiaries?
As part of CCF's work, we aim to build a community of support for our beneficiaries, of which the public plays an important part by showing their care and support when the patient returns to school, work or home. As such, it is important for them to be aware of childhood cancer and understand what a family with a child diagnosed with cancer may have to go through. Through regular sharing sessions, CCF has come to know that some of our beneficiaries have been looked upon with coloured lenses and challenged with remarks such as "what evil did the parents do for a child to suffer from cancer!" "stay away from families whose children are diagnosed with cancer as they are omens of bad luck" - Such misconceptions have caused much inconvenience to our beneficiaries.

By helping to distribute our brochures, you help to raise awareness within the heartlands and dispel unfounded myths and beliefs about the debilitating disease. This will greatly help with the transition for our families from the hospital back to the community.
