Children's Cancer Foundation's is bringing back one of its fund-raising event on 6 December 2009. Tulip Hearts Day is an annual event paying tribute to children who are battling courageously against cancer. Tulips signify hope and celebration while Hearts represent the love and generosity of all those who care. CCF aims to communicate hope and love to children with cancer and their families through Tulip Hearts Day.

This year’s message is “Remembering Children with Cancer in Good and Bad Times”

The colourful handmade silk-cocooned tulips are priced $2 each and will be sold island-wide. CCF hopes to raise at least $130,000 and create public awareness of childhood cancer in Singapore.

Tulip Hearts Day aims to inspire the children and their families to keep their fighting spirits up and to show them that there are many people out there who are for them.

Keeping true to Tulip Hearts Day tradition, volunteers will be mobilized for an island-wide street sale of of vibrant-coloured tulips, raising funds through the sales of more than 65,000 handmade tulips and create awareness of childhood cancer.

CCF is grateful to the street sales volunteers who will be fulfilling the role of a CCF ambassador – by spreading key messages that there is hope for children with cancer and that these children are also able to live a normal childhood.

CCF would like to appeal to members of the public for support by buying Tulips from the volunteers. All the proceeds from the sales of Tulips will be channeled to fund the programmes and services for children and families impacted by childhood cancer.

DO’s AND DON’Ts
When you are selling the handmade silk-cocoon tulip, please be mindful of:
DO DO NOT
Approach with a smile and announce that $2 goes towards helping a child with cancer. Engage in any disagreements.
Be polite to all. Sell the tulips in the MRT stations & trains.
Each tulip is sold for a minimum of $2.00. Any further donation is greatly appreciated. Cash donation may be accepted without purchase of tulips. Retrieve the money out of the bag to give change.
Please tell donor there will not be any loose change given. Explain to donor first before they drop the money into the donation bag.
Thank each donor for his/her contribution. Leave the cash bag and tulips unattended.
Stay in a place with heavy human traffic. More productive than being on the move constantly. Pocket the donations for personal gain.

WHY RAISE FUND FOR CCF
CCF is an independent Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) without government funding. CCF is solely funded by public and corporate donations. It is the Corporate Community, Civic Organisations, Schools and generous individuals that help raise funds for CCF. The donations raised will facilitate the continued provision and improvement of various programmes and services for CCF’s beneficiaries and their families. We sincerely appreciate your understanding towards the plight of children with cancer and their families in Singapore. Your support certainly makes a difference to them as they face difficult times in their battle against childhood cancer. May our joint efforts as part of their community of support, continue to encourage and help in winning the battle against childhood cancer.
