Roles and Responsibilities of Direct Service Volunteers

Play Personnel
Roles & Responsibilities

  • Engage children with cancer in structured play activities at the hospital ward, outpatient clinic or Family Support Centre.
  • Help to clean toys, prepare art & craft activities and/or run group activities.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • Enjoys interacting and playing with children
  • Exhibits maturity
  • Energetic and cheerful
Commitment
  • A minimum 2 hours per week
  • A minimum of 6 months
  • Volunteer during the following hours:
    CCF Family Support Centre at National University Hospital
    Tuesdays and Fridays : 9.30 am to 11.30 am / 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm

    CCF Family Support Centre at KK Women's & Children's Hospital
    Mondays : 9:30 am to 11:30 am
    Tuesdays to Fridays : 10.00 am to 12.00pm / 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Tutor
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide tuition to a child with cancer or sibling who comes from a low-income family.
Requirements
  • At least 20 years old
  • Minimum 'A' Levels/Diploma
  • Willing to commute to the child's house
  • Mature, patient and creative
Commitment
  • Able to go to the child's house for at least 2 hours per week for a period of 1 year
  • Submit a bi-monthly record form to the Social Worker/Counsellor in-charge
*We are currently seeking tutors (primary and secondary level) who can provide tuition to our beneficiaries staying at the following areas: Sembawang, Yishun, Bukit Batok, and Jurong West. If you are interested and would like more information, please email volunteer@ccf.org.sg. Befriender

  • To befriend the child with cancer or sibling
  • To interact and play with the child or sibling

  • At least 20 years old
  • Able to interact effectively with children
  • Willing to commute to the child's house
  • Mature, patient and creative
Commitment
  • Able to go to the child's house for at least 2 hours per week for a period of 1 year
  • Submit a bi-monthly record form to the Social Worker/Counsellor in-charge
Programmes
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Work with staff and other volunteers to plan and execute activities for children with cancer and their families.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old
  • Is mature
  • Enjoys and likes planning and conducting activities
Commitment
  • Able to commit for the entire period of a project (which could be between 3 to 6 months)
