Mooted by nine volunteers in 2003 to show support
for childrenwith cancer, Hair for Hope (HfH) has become
CCF’s iconic fundraising event and platform to raise
childhood cancer awareness.
Into its 13th consecutive year, this year’sHfHmain event
was held on 25 and 26 July 2015 at VivoCity. More than
3,000 participants from all walks of life shaved to pledge
their support for children and their families affected by
childhood cancer. Donned in redevent tee-shirts, the sea
of redexuded theunitedspirit of giving, anapt expression
in celebrationof Singapore’s jubilee year.
Minister, PrimeMinister’s Office, SecondMinister for the
Environment andWater Resources and SecondMinister
for Foreign Affairs, Ms Grace Fu graced HfH as the
Guest-of-Honour. Together with CCF Patron, Associate
Professor Ho Peng Kee and CCF Chairperson, Mr Ho
Cheng Huat, Ms Fu kicked-off HfH with a ceremonial
shave of three shavees.
Shaving for the first time to express his gratitude to
CCF for the support given to him during his cancer
journey, 10-year-old Ken Foong was shaved by Ms Fu.
DiagnosedwithAcuteLymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) at
the age of three-and-a-half, Ken had a relapse inAugust
2012. The brave boy truly demonstrated resilience and
determination that helped him won the battle against
cancer.

Joining Ken in the shaving ceremony was 9-year-old
Justin Leong, childhood cancer survivor who shaved for
the second time at HfH to encourage his young friend
who had a cancer relapse. Top fundraiser of HfH 2015,
54-year-old entrepreneur, Agnes Chandra participated
for the first time to tell children with cancer that it is OK
to be bald.
Besides the main event, 3,139 shavees had their head
shaved at 54 satellite events held island-wide fromMay
to August. In all, HfH 2015 attracted a total of 6,190
