from people of all walks of life coming together to make their bald statements. Held
on 30 and 31 July 2016 at VivoCity, more than 3,000 individuals and group shavees
parted their locks to stand in solidaritywith childrenwith cancer and their families.
Senior Minister of State for Health & The Environment and Water Resources,
Dr Amy Khor, graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour. Following her opening
address, Dr Khor led the kick-off ceremony of HfH 2016 together with CCF Patron,
AssociateProfessor HoPengKee, andCCFChairperson, Mr HoChengHuat.
Nine-year-old CCF beneficiary, Boon Kye Feng, had his head shaved by Dr Khor.
Inspired by one of his best friends, a childhood cancer survivor, who had shaved
in 2014 and 2015 to encourageKyeFeng during his relapse, KyeFeng decided to
shave his head for the first time for HfH this year. “I would like to encourage other
childrenwho are still battling cancer to keep the strong faith and positive attitude,
and keep fighting towin the battle,” saidKyeFeng.
Joining Kye Feng in the ceremonial shave were caregiver, Ooi Wei Tsang and
GradeSix student, ZaraYong.
Wei Tsang is the caregiver of his three-year-old daughter, Ezri Ooi, whowas diagnosed
with Pre BAcute Lymphoid Leukaemia. To express his gratitude towards CCF for the
support to Ezri and his family, Wei Tsang shaved his head for the first time to raise
childhood cancer awareness and funds for CCF. Also a first time shavee, Zara,
was among the top five individual fundraisers for HfH 2016 with more than
$36,000 raised for CCF.
To express our heartfelt gratitude and commend the altruistic support from our
long-standing satellite partners, CCF presented tokens of appreciation to
16HfH satellite partnerswho had supportedHfH for five years and above.
Prior to the two-day main event, 3,034 individuals had shaved for the good
cause at 52 satellite events held islandwide between May and July. In all,
