My brother, Rajan Raju, has been shaving his head since 2009 and I am very impressed by his
commitment to support children and families affected by childhood cancer. Inspired by Rajan’s
dedication to the good cause, I decided to join him inHair for Hope this year to stand in solidaritywith
these youngwarriors and tell them that it isOK to be bald. I hope that CCF beneficiarieswill continue
to stay strong andwe are ready to support you in anyway possible during your cancer journey.

KKWomen’s andChildren’sHospital - $47,649.00
Back in year 2000 before I joined KKWomen’s and Children’s Hospital, I spent some
time in the cancer ward with a four-year-old who was diagnosed with cancer. It was a
trying time for the childandher parents, and I sawhowdifficult it was for theparents to
care for the childand the impact of the illness on their family. Treatment was toughand
their cries were heart-wrenching, but they would smile and laugh again andwerewise
and courageous beyond their years. By joiningHair for Hope, I hope to raise funds for
CCFand tell childrenwith cancer that their hairwill growagainafter the temporary loss.
Professor KennethKwek, Chief ExecutiveOfficer,
KKWomen’s andChildren’sHospital - $40,348.00
KKWomen’s and Children’s Hospital and CCF have a long standing and close partnership in our
common fight against childhood cancer, and it was therefore fitting that we partneredCCF to hold a
Hair for Hope satellite event at KKH and to strongly support the event. The resounding success of
the satellite event is due to the overwhelming support from all of our staff, including administrators,
doctors, nurses, management, family, friends, the CCF team and even our patients! The Hair for
Hope event is ameaningful initiative. Havingmy head shaved is really a small sacrifice to increase
childhood cancer awareness in Singapore. It is also a humbling experience to feel first-hand a very
small part of what a childwith cancer has to go through.
Mr Tan - $30,200.00
This is the first time I shaved for HfH and I had wanted to take part for several years but had not
gotten around to doing it until this year. Childrenwith cancer need all the help and support they can
get andHfH has played a big role in raising childhood cancer awareness. I was fortunate to receive
the support of many colleagues and friends inmy fundraising effort. Family also chipped in and all
contributionswerematched to raisemore funds for CCF. I would like to tell cancer patients – young
and old – that cancer today ismuchmore treatable than it has ever been, and if the right conditions
apply to your cancer, youmay evenbe cured.
