BaldBrothers: Shaving for aCause
This is the first time that the brothers had their heads shaved
together inmore than40 years.Witha commonobjective inmind,
Rajan Raju and Ravi Raju went bald at the Deutsche Bank AG
HfH satellite event on 1 June 2016 to raise childhood cancer
awareness and funds for CCF.
50-year-old Rajan first participated in Hair for Hope (HfH) in
2009, and it has now become an annual activity that resonates
strongly with his passion to tell children with cancer and their
families that they are never alone in the fight against cancer.
Inspired by Rajan’s dedication towards HfH, Ravi decided to join
him for the first time this year to support theCCFbeneficiaries. Ravi
isalso the top individual fundraiser forHair forHope2016withmore
than $57,000 raised for CCF.
The collective fundraising efforts of Rajan andRavi raised a total of
more than $78,000 for CCF.

Despite her young age, 12-year-old, Zara Yong is already an
active fundraiser for causes such as special needs schools
in Singapore, victims of Typhoon Haiyan in Philippines and
orphanages in Bali. Understanding the ordeals that children
with cancer are subjected toafter visiting theCCFwebsite, Zara
decided to shave for Hair for Hope to tell children with cancer
that it isOK to be bald.
Togarnergreatersupport fromher familyand friends inSingapore
and across the world, Zara initiated her own fundraising efforts
such as designing posters, writing appeal emails and using
social media. Zara also baked “Cookies for Hope” which were
put up for private sales during the school holidays to raisemore
funds for CCF.
As one of the top fundraisers for Hair for Hope 2016 with more
than$36,000 raised forCCF, Zarawould likeall childrenwhoare
battling the big ‘C’ to know:
