During the March school holidays, a group of 12 Bayer
volunteers transformed into laboratoryassistants inahands-on
science learning workshop for 35 CCF beneficiaries and their
families on 14March 2016.
The event held at the Singapore ScienceCentrewas all about
“TheHuman Body”. At the start of the tour, the kids could feel,
touch and experience the simulated processes in the human
digestive system. “Everything is moving, cells are floating
around and it must be very chaotic in the actual human body,”
one of the little scientists rightfully noted.
Thegroupwas givenhands-on learningon thedifferent organs
in the digestive system, the importance of calcium in achieving
good bone health and the function of sunscreen in blockingUV
rays. Bayer volunteers were on hand to provide both guidance
as well as good company for the children to ensure that their
learning experiencewas as fun as theywere educational!
Wehope that through this excursion, wehave inspired someof
the children to become scientistswhen they grow up!

CalvinKleinPizzaMakingSession
On 22 January 2016,
associates from Calvin
Klein Singapore hosted a
pizza making session at
PastaMania at Singapore
Management University
for 24 CCF beneficiaries
and their families. The
hands-on session gave
everyone the opportunity
to make and taste their own pizzas! The little ones
thoroughly enjoyed the simple yet delicious recipes and
were full of positiveenergy throughout theentire session.
Fun and laughter aside, the volunteers felt that we had
definitely gained more from hosting the session and
engagingwith the children. Wewere glad that everyone
got to take home new knowledge such as many pizza
fun factsandbasicbaking skills. The sessionendedwith
pizza tasting and it was nice to know that the caregivers
were very appreciative and thankful for what we had
done for them.

Urbhanize®ShortiesDance,
Fitness, Fun!
California Fitness was delighted to share their brand
new dance fitness programme ‘Urbhanize®’ with
10 CCF beneficiaries and their families on 26 March
2016! The children were the first to experience this
exciting programme inSingapore and the sessionwas
conducted by the co-creator of Urbhanize®, Dennis
Thomsen. Dennis volunteered to fly to Singapore from
Denmark to lead the dance fitness class.
Needless to say, the class was sensational! The
children had a spirited good time dancing to the
energetic routines! The parents took countless videos
and photos to remember these moments. The class
concluded with a certificate and California Fitness
goodie bag for each child. This was definitely a
memorable day for all our instructors!

“It was a very memorable experience helping out with
the Urbhanize® shorties at CCF. Theminute themusic
started playing, I could feel their enthusiasm, even
from the ones who were initially very shy. It was also
very inspiring and uplifting to watch and dance with
these young warriors. It is my privilege to share these
moments with them.”

Programme (YEP), students
from the School of Business
and Accountancy decided to
organise a party on 9 March
2016 for13CCFbeneficiaries
and their families. Besides
exciting performances put up
by Ngee Ann Polytechnic students, the children also had fun
trying their hand at balloon sculpting!
The experience was a memorable one for all of us. We felt
inspired by the positivity of the young children and their
caregivers, and were encouraged by how they have chosen to
embrace life. We would like to thank CCF for the opportunity
to organise such a fun-filled event and we cannot wait to
collaboratewithCCF again!
