HeartsConnect
On 19 March 2016, CCF’s Very Important Brothers and
Sisters (VIBS) Serviceheld its first runof ‘HeartsConnect’,
a workshop which saw nine siblings and their parents
coming together for some bonding time.
‘HeartsConnect’ seeks to strengthen theparent-childbond
between siblings and their parents amidst the impacts of
cancer through activities based on the concept of ‘The
Five Love Languages’ by Dr Gary Chapman. The five love
languages are physical touch, quality time, acts of service,
words of affirmation and gifts.
At thedifferent game stations, every siblingandparent had
to try expressing their love for each other in different ways.
Theymademedals for eachother, completed tele-matches
together, fedeachother cupcakes andwereencouraged to
have endearing conversations. Participants also answered
a questionnaire which helped them analyse their personal
love languages.
The highlight of the day was definitely the awards
ceremony! As each sibling and their parents presented the
handmade medals to each other, they also shared how
thankful they were for each other. Everyone also received
‘love coupons’ which they could use to redeem a special
treat from each other! Without a doubt, the best takeaway
from the workshop was the strengthened bonds between
familymembers.

(SOTA). Memberswere updated on the Foundation’s performance in 2015 and the new programmes launched
byCCF. TheManagement Committee 2016/2017was also appointed at theAGM.
